Set podcast episode/season order

Set podcast episode/season order

Sometimes you are so busy adding podcast episodes that you have ten episodes ready to publish without realizing it...

But what if you want a completely different order than you have now? And how can you fix this? In this article we'll explain what determines the order of episodes.

Episode order

1. The publication date is always leading when it comes to the episode order for Spotify, Google, your podcast website and your playlist. The most recently published episode is always the first one shown.
2. For Apple you can specify the order of your podcast episodes under 'podcast settings' in your Springcast app menu. You can choose between Episodic and Serial. This will determine how Apple Podcasts will display the order. Episodic means your episodes are shown from newest to oldest. Serial means your episodes are shown from oldest to newest.

Season and Episode

It is also required to submit an episode number when creating your podcast episode. If you don't want to work with seasons you can easily avoid this by not selecting a season or submit  '0'.

Apple Podcasts doesn't show seasons, only episode numbers. So when you're in, for example, season 2 episode 5, Apple Podcast only shows the episode number, for example 15. This is then mentioned in the information of the podcast episode.

Spotify and Google Podcasts don't show season numbers or episode numbers. If you want to make sure your episode number is shown, put them in your title. Do you want them to be shown? Then you can put them in your title. This means the episode number is shown twice on your podcast website.

As you can see, everyone has their own way of doing things. So try to find out what works for you and your podcast.

Happy podcasting!
