Moving your podcast from Buzzsprout to Springcast

Moving your podcast from Buzzsprout to Springcast

If you are currently hosting your podcast with Buzzsprout and want to move it to Springcast, you can simply use our import function. Follow the steps below to make sure your move to Springcast is successful.

1. Import your podcast

To import all episodes from Buzzsprout, follow these steps.

1. Go to your Springcast account or create an account
2. Select 'Add Podcast Show' in the top right corner and then select 'Import Podcast'
3. Paste your current RSS feed from Buzzsprout and select 'Start Import'

2. Export your statistics

It is wise to export your Buzzsprout statistics. Make sure you do this before you move to Springcast. This way, your statistics will remain up-to-date. Unfortunately, you won't be able to bring your Buzzsprout statistics with you to Springcast.

1. Log in to your Buzzsprout account
2. Select 'Stats'
3. Select which period of time you wish to export
4. Select the grey download button at the top right side of your screen
5. Submit which statistics you wish to export
6. Select 'Generate Reports'
7. You can also export episodes statistics individually
8. Select the episode you wish to generate statistics from, select 'More options' and select 'view episode stats'. Now you're ready to export your episode statistics
NOTE: you can only export statistics once every 48 hours.

3. Copy your Springcast RSS feed

Now it's time to copy your Springcast RSS feed. You need this to notify Buzzsprout of the move to Springcast.
Go to the 'Distribution' tab and select 'Copy' button next to the RSS link.

4. Report your move to Buzzsprout

NOTE: After placing the redirect, the episode level statistics in Spotify for Podcasters will be set to 0. If you want to keep these statistics, make sure you make an export before you place the redirect. Your general show-level data, such as streams, listeners, and followers, will be retained after placing the redirect.

Checked everything when importing your podcast and exported the statistics? Well done! Now it's time to let Buzzsprout know you're moving. You do this by placing a 301 Redirect. This is a permanent redirect from one URL to another. You will need the Springcast RSS feed you've copied in the previous step.

1. Log in to your Buzzsprout account
2. Select 'Settings'
3. Select 'Cancel / Redirect Podcast'
4. Scroll to the orange column 'Redirect and Downgrade' and select 'Redirect Your Podcast Feed'
5. Follow the steps and make sure you set a redirect to your Springcast RSS feed

NOTE: Once you've notified Buzzsprout of the redirect, Buzzsprout will automatically convert your subscription to a free version by the end of the subscription period. After that, episodes older than 90 (based on the upload date) will be deleted. After this, do not cancel the free subscription until you are sure all steps have been completed successfully. We advise you not to close the Buzzsprout account immediately, but 2 weeks after the move. This gives the directories time to direct listeners to the correct (new) feed.

5. Notify Spotify, Apple and Google of the move

Notify your podcast distribution apps (Spotify, Apple, Google) of the move.
