What is a podcast RSS feed and what do you use it for?

In this article we explain what a podcast RSS feed is and how it works. The official description of a podcast RSS feed is this:

"A podcast RSS feed is a page that allows people or applications (e.g. Spotify or Google Podcasts) to automatically retrieve updates of new content on that page. When it comes to a podcast RSS feed, this is information about the cover images, the author, the episode and the sound file."

To make sure your podcast is streamed at platforms like Spotify, Google Podcasts or Apple Podcasts, you use a link (URL) to an RSS feed.

The RSS feed link can be found in your dashboard at Springcast. It's good to know that an RSS feed link is often simply called an RSS feed.

The RSS feed link is visible as soon as you create a show. Once you've added your first episode, the link will contain information about your show.

When you want to publish your podcast on Spotify, Google, Apple or any of the other podcast platforms, for example, you use the RSS feed link. How? By simply copying this link and submitting it to the various streaming platforms.

You only have to submit your RSS feed link once. New data will automatically be retrieved.
